The History of Mutterberg
1905 | Purchase of the first (of three) Mutterberg Alm (alpine farm), and first ascent with cattle for summer grazing by Alois Hofer |
1922 | House fire (triggered by a ski-hiker) |
1923 | Reconstruction of the alpine farm |
1927 | Purchase of a second Metterberg Alm by Franz Hofer |
1960 | Passed over to Hermann Hofer (up to now, the Alm had been used solely for cattle grazing) |
1971 | Construction of the guesthouse by Riki and Hermann Hofer |
1973 | Construction and opening of the Stubai Glacier cable car Completion of the first construction phase and opening of the hotel with 16 beds |
1978 | Expansion to 35 beds Addition of swimming pool and sauna |
1980/81 | Expansion to 120 beds and construction of dining room and hotel lobby |
1986 | Opening of Aparthotel Mutterberg by associates (today’s House 2) |
1990 | Handover of Aparthotel Mutterberg to Riki und Hermann Hofer |
2001 | Conversion and modernisation of the wellness area |
2005 | Handover of the hotel to son Horst Hofer (4th generation) |
2006 | Major revamp of après ski area, kitchen, restaurant, dining room and hotel lobby |
2008 | The hotel is open from October to May (winter season) |
2011 | Son Marcel Hofer born on 13 January 2011 |
2015 | Complete renovation of 24 double rooms and 1 suite – currently Superior Double Room and Glacier Suite |
2016 | Redevelopment of 25 washrooms in the attic rooms of House 1 and some of the balcony rooms in House 2 |
2018 | Renovation of the entrance area |
